Finally we hear from Google about the release date of the new version of Android operating system, Ice Cream Sandwich. In an interview with SalesForce.com CEO Marc Benioff, Google’s Eric Schmidt disclosed that next iteration of Android would come in the October-November time frame.

“We have a new operating system, internally known as Ice Cream Sandwich for some reason, which is being released in October/November, which everyone’s really excited about,” says Schmidt in the interview held at Safeforce’s Dreamforce conference. Check out the whole Interview below.

Interviewer: Hi Ravi, I’m Kumar. I’m from hiring team. Can you give me a brief introduction about yourself??

Me: Hello sir, I’m G.RaviTeja. I was born and brought up in Buchireddypalem, a village near Nellore district. I completed my schooling in Buchi itself and I stood among Top 10 at mandal level securing 526 marks in my S.S.C examinations.
Then I Completed my Inter In Nellore. There in the first year I got state 5^th rank and in the second year I got 965 marks in Inter and a good rank in EAMCET as well that is 857. So I got a seat in Sri Venkateswara University College of Engineering. I completed my B.tech with an aggregate of 7.83(CGPA) that is distinction as per my university.

Interviewer: Are u from Campus??

Me: Yes, Sir. During my four years stay in university I had understood that study is not the only thing we need and so I’ve involved myself in extra-curricular activities like playing games and participating and organizing quizzes, cultural fests and all. I’m an active member of ACE, that’s acronym for Association of Computer Science Engineers in our college.

I am good at C, SQL. I should say I’m a toddler in Java.

Interviewer: Then when will u become expert in java??

Me: Sir, actually I’m studying java daily 2hrs early in the morning.

Me: Yes, Sir.

Interviewer: Don’t U get placements in your college?

Me: Yes, sir. But I didn’t attend for placements because, I’m preparing for GATE exam and I want to do M.Tech, I got a good rank In GATE also.

Interviewer: What’s your Rank in GATE??

Me: 1900 (Its 1937 actually. I rounded to nearest Kinteger. Integer*1000=Kinteger…… ) But now my financial status is not allowing me to do so and my parents said that go for job at least for 2 years and then go for M.Tech.

My hobbies are playing with Rubik’s cube (he got flat for this I think). Solving puzzles in leisure time.

Interviewer: Can you set all colors in the cube?

Me: Yes sir.

Interviewer: How much time will it take to complete?

Me: 3min sir.

Interviewer: Oh….Hmmm…..good

Me: Yes sir. I’ve attended for a workshop also on Rubik’s cube.

Interviewer: How will you approach while solving the cube? Is there a formula?

Me: Yes sir it’s an algorithm. If u r given with a cube, whatever may be the position of the cube the algorithm will solve the cube and it’s a layer-by approach

There’s also a face-by approach but for beginners layer-by approach is the best option.

Interviewer: Ahaa..ok then what’s your plans for your higher studies M.tech??

Me: Sir, as I said my financial status is not allowing me now. I’ll do job for 2/3 years and then I’ll go for job.

Interviewer: Ok Ravi, Tell me about Your Family?

Me: Sir, My parents are both yoga masters and they motivate me in any kind of situation and I also have a sister.

Interviewer: Yoga means is it their profession??

Me: Nope sir, it’s their hobby. My father is a Businessman and my mother is housewife.

Me: She is B.tech final year in JNTU-A.

Interviewer: Ok Ravi……….He goes on briefing about the company and asked me

Bring back deleted files with lsof

There you are, happily playing around with an audio file you’ve spent all afternoon tweaking, and you’re thinking, “Wow, doesn’t it sound great? Lemme just move it over here.” At that point your subconscious chimes in, “Um, you meant mv, not rm, right?” Oops. I feel your pain — this happens to everyone. But there’s a straightforward method to recover your lost file, and since it works on every standard Linux system, everyone ought to know how to do it.

Briefly, a file as it appears somewhere on a Linux filesystem is actually just a link to an inode, which contains all of the file’s properties, such as permissions and ownership, as well as the addresses of the data blocks where the file’s content is stored on disk. When you rm a file, you’re removing the link that points to its inode, but not the inode itself; other processes (such as your audio player) might still have it open. It’s only after they’re through and all links are removed that an inode and the data blocks it pointed to are made available for writing.

This delay is your key to a quick and happy recovery: if a process still has the file open, the data’s there somewhere, even though according to the directory listing the file already appears to be gone.

This is where the Linux process pseudo-filesystem, the /proc directory, comes into play. Every process on the system has a directory here with its name on it, inside of which lies many things — including an fd (“file descriptor”) subdirectory containing links to all files that the process has open. Even if a file has been removed from the filesystem, a copy of the data will be right here:

/proc/process id/fd/file descriptor

To know where to go, you need to get the id of the process that has the file open, and the file descriptor. These you get with lsof, whose name means “list open files.” (It actually does a whole lot more than this and is so useful that almost every system has it installed. If yours isn’t one of them, you can grab the latest version straight from its author.)

Once you get that information from lsof, you can just copy the data out of /proc and call it a day.

This whole thing is best demonstrated with a live example. First, create a text file that you can delete and then bring back:

$ man lsof | col -b > myfile

Then have a look at the contents of the file that you just created:

$ less myfile

You should see a plaintext version of lsof‘s huge man page looking out at you, courtesy of less.

Now press Ctrl-Z to suspend less. Back at a shell prompt make sure your file is still there:

$ ls -l myfile
-rw-r--r--  1 jimbo jimbo 114383 Oct 31 16:14 myfile
$ stat myfile
  File: `myfile'
  Size: 114383          Blocks: 232        IO Block: 4096   regular file

Yup, it’s there all right. OK, go ahead and oops it:

$ rm myfile
$ ls -l myfile
ls: myfile: No such file or directory
$ stat myfile
stat: cannot stat `myfile': No such file or directory
$

It’s gone.

At this point, you must not allow the process still using the file to exit, because once that happens, the file will really be gone and your troubles will intensify. Your background less process in this walkthrough isn’t going anywhere (unless you kill the process or exit the shell), but if this were a video or sound file that you were playing, the first thing to do at the point where you realize you deleted the file would be to immediately pause the application playback, or otherwise freeze the process, so that it doesn’t eventually stop playing the file and exit.

Now to bring the file back. First see what lsof has to say about it:

$ lsof | grep myfile
less      4158    jimbo    4r      REG       3,65   114383   1276722 /home/jimbo/myfile (deleted)

The first column gives you the name of the command associated with the process, the second column is the process id, and the number in the fourth column is the file descriptor (the “r” means that it’s a regular file). Now you know that process 4158 still has the file open, and you know the file descriptor, 4. That’s everything you have to know to copy it out of /proc.

You might think that using the -a flag with cp is the right thing to do here, since you’re restoring the file — but it’s actually important that you don’t do that. Otherwise, instead of copying the literal data contained in the file, you’ll be copying a now-broken symbolic link to the file as it once was listed in its original directory:

$ ls -l /proc/4158/fd/4
lr-x------  1 jimbo jimbo 64 Oct 31 16:18 /proc/4158/fd/4 -> /home/jimbo/myfile (deleted)
$ cp -a /proc/4158/fd/4 myfile.wrong
$ ls -l myfile.wrong
lrwxr-xr-x  1 jimbo jimbo 24 Oct 31 16:22 myfile.wrong -> /home/jimbo/myfile (deleted)
$ file myfile.wrong
myfile.wrong: broken symbolic link to `/home/jimbo/myfile (deleted)'
$ file /proc/4158/fd/4
/proc/4158/fd/4: broken symbolic link to `/home/jimbo/myfile (deleted)'

So instead of all that, just a plain old cp will do the trick:

$ cp /proc/4158/fd/4 myfile.saved

And finally, verify that you’ve done good:

$ ls -l myfile.saved
-rw-r--r--  1 jimbo jimbo 114383 Oct 31 16:25 myfile.saved
$ man lsof | col -b > myfile.new
$ cmp myfile.saved myfile.new

No complaints from cmp – your restoration is the real deal.

Incidentally, there are a lot of useful things you can do with lsof in addition to rescuing lost files.

Suppose that you are organizing housing accommodations for a group of four hundred university students. Space is limited and only one hundred of the students will receive places in the dormitory. To complicate matters, the Dean has provided you with a list of pairs of incompatible students, and requested that no pair from this list appear in your final choice. This is an example of what computer scientists call an NP-problem, since it is easy to check if a given choice of one hundred students proposed by a coworker is satisfactory (i.e., no pair taken from your coworker’s list also appears on the list from the Dean’s office), however the task of generating such a list from scratch seems to be so hard as to be completely impractical. Indeed, the total number of ways of choosing one hundred students from the four hundred applicants is greater than the number of atoms in the known universe! Thus no future civilization could ever hope to build a supercomputer capable of solving the problem by brute force; that is, by checking every possible combination of 100 students. However, this apparent difficulty may only reflect the lack of ingenuity of your programmer. In fact, one of the outstanding problems in computer science is determining whether questions exist whose answer can be quickly checked, but which require an impossibly long time to solve by any direct procedure. Problems like the one listed above certainly seem to be of this kind, but so far no one has managed to prove that any of them really are so hard as they appear, i.e., that there really is no feasible way to generate an answer with the help of a computer. Stephen Cook and Leonid Levin formulated the P (i.e., easy to find) versus NP (i.e., easy to check) problem independently in 1971.

It is one of the seven Millennium Prize Problems selected by the Clay Mathematics Institute to carry a US$ 1,000,000 prize for the first correct solution.

Hello Everyone,
After a long time glad to meet you again.
Coming to the point, from 23rd of this month we have placements in our campus.you didn’t forget my campus right??.OK anyway let me tell you again I am from Sri Venkateswara University popularly known as SVU.
The first slot went to TCS this time and today we had the written test which is very easy and i cracked it.
Tomorrow is the real filtration starts with technical interview and ends HR interview and that’s all we will get selected.
Yes I was selected for the interview, it has three rounds Technical followed by MR and HR rounds.
For me Technical & MR was done in single round and it was easy since I prepared very well and I was promoted to HR round.
HR round was very easy than expected.He was very cool and I cleared like walking on Flowers.Its just simple.
Finally @11:00pm they announced the candidates who have got selected and I was one in them.
K guys What I suggest is Don’t loose confidence anywhere.

Acer readies 10-inch Aspire One for Q1 launch

Acer’s top-selling Aspire One is set to break into 10-inch territory as early as February or March. This according to Scott Lin, Acer Taiwan president. Also on the books are 12.1-, 13.3-, and 15.6-inch LED-backlit laptops for 2009 — a 14.1-incher should hit this year with a price of NT$40,000 or about $1,200 of the green, presidential stuff.

Universal WIRELESS chrger 4 rechargeble devices

Today almost all the new gadgets that we use like mobile, I-pod, laptops, PDAs Etc, Need to be charged and for charging them we have to connect them to individual charges. Moreover the present universal chargers are not compatible with all the devices so we always have to carry a no of chargers. Not only this, we have to search for electric sockets for charging these devices. So I thought of a really universal charger (A single charger) that can charge all the devices either it is laptop ,PDAs ,Mobile phones ,i-pod etc .This device does not require any cables to be plugged in to the device which has to be charge .That is its wireless and this is what makes it a real universal charger. “So Now U Need To Carry a Single Portable Charger for All Your Devices.”

This device has been actually made in a college Lab (Madhya Pradesh) and I was delighted to see that it was charging all the devices tested. The device is two modules, with a base unit connected to AC power, and a receiving end unit that is permanently attached to or integrated in the portable device. By placing the portable device on the base unit, it will provide power to the device’s power input port. This allows the device to be recharged without having to plug in any wires. With the present design we are able to charge device at a distance of 0.5meter also. The device consists of AC/AC adapter frequency converter that increases the 50Hz input AC power to a frequency suitable for our application. This frequency converter passes the high frequency AC power through an inductor, creating the primary half of a transformer. This provides the field necessary to power the charging system. The Receiving Inductor captures energy from the EM field of the base inductor, effectively completing the transformer.The turn’s ratio is chosen to provide the appropriate voltage. The rectifier converts the induced AC power into DC power. This block also contains additional components necessary to filter the output. Voltage and Current Regulation and Control convert the rectified DC power into a constant DC voltage, and prevent current spikes. Output Wiring and Connector connects the output of the charger to the devices DC input.The wiring will be unobtrusive ,sturdy and permanently fitted in device.Hence “There is NO NEED OF THE CHARGING PORTS in your laptop,phones ,PDAs etc.” THE FUTURE OF THIS DEVICE: - in future this device can be used somewhat like a WI-FI connection which is available in public place like railway stations, bus stands etc or a office campus, hotels etc and u have to just select charge option on your device or push a button and your device will starts getting charged, Without your search for power plugs or charging stations.
